Posters! Finally!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Jul 22, 2019 at 08:04:10 PM

Hello all,

Today I was able to pick up the 6 x 9 posters that I've been talking so much about. They look fabulous! As mentioned before, they are printed similarly to the cards themselves, but they are of course larger, and they have modified art to fit the format of the posters. I hope you all enjoy them when you get them! Perfect for framing, hanging, or even wood mounting.

Thank you all for sticking with me through this! We got the OK with printing the decks as well, so printing should officially begin soon! Now we just have to wait for everything to be printed and I can begin assembly and shipping!

(P.S. keep in mind that the blackout versions are clear ink on black paper, so they appear gold-ish on my camera due to the light, but they look the same as the blackout cards)

Another Brief Production Update
over 5 years ago – Wed, Jul 17, 2019 at 09:49:27 PM

Hello once more!

A few days ago I got the final quote for the project from Midland Paper, they were able to get it into the budget range, which means two incredible things for the Sigil Arcanum:

1. The Card Quality will be even better, all components will be manufactured locally and by the same professionals, and there will be no plastic!

2. I will be able to print 1,500 cards instead of 1,000 (750 of each deck style) which means there will be plenty left to bring to stores!

Yesterday I submitted all the paperwork for the project, and I'm just putting the finishing touches on the box-version of the booklet (which will be shorter than the version I posted on here when the project funded to fit into the "little white booklet" traditional size). Once they let me know that all the paperwork is good to go, I'll be able to pay them for their fine services, and then will commence the 3 weeks of production.

After production finishes in early August I will begin the process of assembly and shipping. There are around 400 addresses that I'll be shipping to, which means it will take me a while. I will hopefully be getting some help from family and friends, but it's a process and will take some time. It's very possible that you'll see your deck(s) by the end of August. I'm so excited about how relatively smoothly everything is going, and I'll be sure to keep posting as I know more!

A Brief Update
over 5 years ago – Wed, Jul 03, 2019 at 06:59:12 PM

Hello folks,

Just wanted to thank you all, once again, for believing in me and backing this project. I want you to know that I am working on this thing as fast as the winds of printmaking will allow, and that while I thought we could get to the actual printing sooner, it turns out there are a lot of pieces to make sure are safely nestled in place BEFORE we actually start printing anything.

The biggest reason printing has not begun is because I have been working with a second printer to try and get a better quality package. The printer that I have gone through for the demos and sample decks is great, but they don't have a die cut machine, and they can't saddle-stich booklets.

Midland paper is the /second/ printer I've been working with, because they are much much larger than TOPS, so they have many more tools at their disposal. The tricky thing is that they are vastly more expensive, and I need to make sure I have money available for shipping (because who would have thought shipping is so expensive).

All of that said, we really are gearing up to begin printing soon, but at this point I don't want to promise a "this week" or "next week" because I have been let down in the past, and I don't want to let you down. TOPS is printing the posters as we speak, that is good to go and I should be able to upload actual photos of those bad boys soon enough.

As for Midland and the status of the decks, my contact is just trying to work out the final pricing. There have been a couple tweaks made to the process as this has unfolded because we're trying to work out how to stay in budget and still get the best quality product. What this means is that Midland will be skipping a couple minor steps which I and my friends and family will happily take over: Midland will be die-cutting the cards, but my team will be collating each set into an actual deck (in order), putting them into boxes, and sealing the boxes.

One of the reasons that I wanted to skip the collating step with Midland is that their people who do the collating will also shrink wrap the cards in plastic, which I want to avoid. Plastic is the worst. We will be using stickers instead, which I think works MUCH better for a deck of cards. See either of the gorgeous decks by UUSI.

So with all that said, just be aware that this isn't going QUITE as fast as I would have liked, but that we are still on schedule to complete the project and begin shipping this summer, and we are still rolling a hell of a lot faster than most Kickstarter projects.

Also please know that if you have questions or you just want to drop by and yell at me, I do read every message that is sent to me here on Kickstarter, and I do respond to them all as well. If you have joined the Newsletter, thank you for your patience, I will have fun photos and stuff coming once I actually have things to work with. Right now I'm playing the waiting game as much as you all.

Thanks again for being a part of this awesome project, I couldn't have done it without you!

Posters!

Hello fine people, and a happy Sunday to you!

Printing should definitely begin this week, everything is ready to roll with that, I'm just trying to decide between a couple things: a decision I will be able to make tomorrow when I see the printed boxes.

Poster designs are all finished, and ready for printing as well, in fact they will probably begin the printing and cutting process tomorrow or Tuesday! Here are images of all the posters that were chosen, I'm posting just the colored versions since the Blackout ones don't translate as well on the screen. Never fear! I will post photographs of the posters once I have them in my hands, hopefully this week, probably next week.

(P.S. If you ordered a poster and would like it signed, please message me)

Without further ado, here are the poster designs:

The Waiting Game
over 5 years ago – Mon, Jun 17, 2019 at 12:59:01 AM

Greetings everyone! Happy Father's day to all the dads out there. I wanted to stop by your inbox and let you know that right now we are mostly just waiting on finishing up all the pre-printing planning, and should begin printing the decks soon.

As for the posters, I promise I will get them soon, hopefully this week, but probably next week. Either way, thanks again for following along and remaining patient with this project! I cannot wait to see the final products, but unfortunately the waiting game is the game we must play for now.

Thank you!
